Elon Musk stated during his dialogue with Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, at Davos that a major breakthrough SpaceX is expected to achieve this year is the complete reusability of rockets. No one has ever achieved complete reusability of rockets before, and this is crucial for reducing the cost of space launches. Musk said: "We have achieved partial reusability of rockets through Falcon 9. So far, the Falcon 9 booster has been recovered and landed over 500 times, but the upper stage of the rocket still needs to be discarded. The upper stage burns up when re-entering the atmosphere, and its cost is equivalent to that of a small-to-medium sized jet aircraft. Starship is a giant rocket, the largest spacecraft ever built by humans. With Starship, we should be able to achieve complete reusability of rockets, which will be a groundbreaking invention. Once complete reusability is achieved, the cost of space launches will drop to one percent of the original cost, making it extremely affordable to launch large satellites into space."
