Local time on January 21st, it was learned that the ruling authorities in Guinea-Bissau have decided that the country will hold presidential and parliamentary elections on December 6, 2026. Guinea-Bissau previously held presidential and parliamentary elections in November 2025, but the country's armed forces later made a statement on national television claiming that the military had "taken full control" of state power to address "the actions of some political figures attempting to destabilize the country".
