He complained at the World Economic Forum in Davos, saying: "Those wind farms are ugly, they kill birds, and offshore wind farms ruin the sea view." Without citing any evidence, Trump claimed that wind turbines are a sign of economic decline. He said: "One thing I've noticed is that the more wind turbines a country has, the more money the country loses, and the worse the situation gets." After his speech, shares of Danish Vestas Wind Systems and Orsted Energy companies fell.
