According to the investigation report, at 5:35 am on August 18, 2024, a major coal and gas outburst accident occurred at Goutou Coal Mine of Goutou Mining Co., Ltd. in Weixin County, Zhaotong City, resulting in 6 deaths and 1 injury, with a direct economic loss of 10.1 million yuan. According to the announcement, the accident was caused by illegal and irregular production organization in the coal mine, reckless actions without eliminating the danger of coal seam outbursts, failure of relevant coal mine safety supervision departments to fulfill their duties seriously, and inadequate supervision from the local party committee and government, resulting in a major production safety accident due to inadequate control of significant safety risks.
