World premiere! A group of 35,000-ton heavy-duty convoy trains challenge automatic formation driving.
This morning, the Baoshen Railway is set to conduct a "hardcore test". China's independently developed 35,000-ton heavy-duty group train will challenge the world's first automatic formation driving for heavy-duty trains. This test is highly anticipated. In the test, seven 5000-ton freight trains will be linked together without physical couplings, relying solely on wireless signals to "fight side by side" and form a super large group of 35,000 tons. This way, without new railway construction, capacity can be increased by 50%. The Baoshen Railway is a coal-dedicated railway connecting Baotou in Inner Mongolia with Shenmu in Shaanxi, and is an important part of China's "West Coal East Transport" channel.
