Recently, 4 Chinese citizens were arrested by local authorities in the Siguiri region of Guinea for suspected illegal gold mining, and they face multiple charges including illegal mining, illegal residency, and environmental damage. The related case is still under further investigation and trial. Currently, a very small number of our citizens are still taking risks with a sense of luck, insisting on participating in illegal gold mining activities, causing negative impacts. The Chinese government firmly opposes our citizens engaging in illegal gold mining activities in any form. Recently, multiple rounds of protests have broken out in the Siguiri region against illegal gold mining, leading to conflicts and casualties.
