Tongcheng Travel releases Spring Festival travel forecast report for 2026, with in-depth involvement of travel AI as a major highlight.
On January 20th, Tongcheng Travel released the "2026 Spring Festival Travel Trends Report". The report shows that the first peak of travel before the Spring Festival by air and rail is expected to occur around February 6th, and the peak of passenger traffic before the festival is expected to occur on February 13th and 14th. During the Spring Festival travel season, domestic flight ticket prices have slightly increased compared to the same period last year. As for popular routes, the popular departure cities before the Spring Festival by rail are mainly concentrated in first-tier cities and regional center cities such as Guangzhou, Chongqing, and Beijing, while popular departure cities by air are concentrated in first-tier cities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. The "longest Spring Festival holiday in history" has significantly driven the demand for multiple trips during this year's Spring Festival travel season, with an estimated 13% of air passengers and more than 30% of rail passengers expected to make two or more trips, both reaching new highs since 2023. The deep involvement of travel AI is expected to be a highlight of the 2026 Spring Festival travel season. During this year's Spring Festival peak period, the phenomenon of "difficult to get tickets" for popular routes is still prominent, but travel AI has opened up a "God's-eye view" for Spring Festival travel. As the peak of ticket bookings for trains and flights approaches, inquiries about Spring Festival travel planning related to DeepTrip, Tongcheng Travel's intelligent travel tool, have increased by over 100% in the past week.
