A new plant species has been discovered in Baise, Guangxi, with fewer than 250 plants remaining globally, making it endangered.

Recently, researchers from the Guangxi Institute of Botany, Zhejiang Normal University, the Guangxi Mulun National Nature Reserve Management Center, and the Guizhou Maolan National Nature Reserve Management Bureau jointly named and published a new species of Rhododendron in the Rhododendron family. The research results were published in the international plant taxonomy journal "Plant Systematics". Currently, the population of Mulun Rhododendron does not exceed 250 mature individuals, and the largest subpopulation does not exceed 150 mature individuals. According to the IUCN Red List category and assessment criteria, it is classified as an endangered species.
