Ministry of Finance: Nearly 80% of the premiums for agricultural insurance in China come from fiscal subsidies. The scale is expected to exceed 155 billion yuan by 2025.

On January 20th, Yu Hong, director of the Financial Department of the Ministry of Finance, stated at a press conference of the State Council Information Office that since 2007, the central government has supported the development of agricultural insurance in the form of premium subsidies, making it one of the earliest coordinated fiscal and financial policy measures. Nearly 80% of the premium of agricultural insurance in China comes from fiscal subsidies, and the growth rate of fiscal premium subsidies at all levels has maintained double-digit growth every year, using real money to support the development of the agricultural insurance industry. By 2025, the premium scale of agricultural insurance in China has exceeded 155 billion yuan, providing risk protection exceeding 5.2 trillion yuan for 125 million farmers.
