Canceling a reservation at a Quanzhou hotel within 7 days before check-in will result in a deduction of more than 50% of the room rate? Official response
On January 20, the Quanzhou Tourism Association issued a statement: Regarding the original "Guiding Opinions on Booking and Canceling Rooms in the Accommodation Industry in Quanzhou City", its original intention was for reference, to guide and regulate the operation of the accommodation market, and to protect the legitimate rights and interests of tourists and consumers. In response to the feedback from netizens, we will widely solicit feedback from various sectors of society, further demonstrate, and propose additional initiatives in a timely manner.
According to Interface News, on January 15, the Quanzhou Tourism Association officially released the "Guiding Opinions on Booking and Canceling Rooms in the Accommodation Industry in Quanzhou City". In this opinion, taking into account the characteristics of the peak and off-peak seasons in Quanzhou tourism, differentiated tiered cancellation standards were established to provide clear guidance for cancellation behaviors in different time periods. During statutory holidays such as the Spring Festival, Labor Day, and National Day, cancellations are more strictly regulated. The threshold for a full refund for canceling the order is more than 15 days before check-in, canceling between 7 to 15 days before check-in incurs a 50% deduction of room fees, canceling between 3 to 7 days before check-in incurs an 80% deduction of room fees, and canceling within 3 days or on the day of check-in is not allowed.
The above guiding opinions have sparked controversy online, with some netizens believing that the standards set in the opinion are too strict and affect the convenience of booking hotels when traveling.
