Train accident in Spain has caused 40 deaths with track welding issue being the main focus of investigation.
On the 19th local time, the emergency rescue department of Andalusia Autonomous Region in Spain reported that the death toll from the train collision in the Cordoba province Adeamus has risen to 40. Currently, there are still 43 people hospitalized, with 12 in intensive care units. Rescue teams are still conducting search and rescue operations in the most damaged front carriages. Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez stated that all national departments are coordinating response efforts, and further investigation by technical staff is needed to determine the cause of the accident. Local reports suggest that one focus of the investigation is the possibility of defects in the welding of the tracks.
