The armed conflict in Sudan has been ongoing for nearly three years, with war raging in most parts of the country, causing severe damage to the country's energy infrastructure. Many oil fields in Sudan have been forced to shut down, refineries have halted operation, and the energy supply crisis continues to worsen. In December 2025, one of Sudan's most important oil fields, Heglig oil field, was engulfed in the conflict, forcing the field to completely cease production and all staff to evacuate. As a result, almost all oil fields in the major oil-producing areas in central and western Sudan have come to a standstill. Data from Sudan's Ministry of Finance shows that the country's oil revenue has dropped by over 50% compared to before the conflict.
