On January 18th, local time, two high-speed trains derailed in the southern province of Cordoba, Spain, causing multiple injuries and trapping many people. Emergency services have dispatched firefighters, medical personnel, and the National Guard to the scene for rescue operations. The Spanish Railway Infrastructure Management Authority stated that a high-speed train traveling from Malaga to Madrid derailed at the Admus station and collided with an adjacent line, followed by another high-speed train traveling from Valencia to Madrid also derailing. The Spanish Railway Infrastructure Management Authority reported that the affected lines were temporarily suspended and an evaluation of the railway infrastructure and operating conditions is underway. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
