South Africa declares a "national disaster state".

Recent heavy rainfall in the northern region of South Africa triggered floods, causing at least 37 deaths and damage to thousands of homes. The South African National Disaster Management Center declared a state of national disaster on the 18th. Currently, rescue operations are still ongoing. The South African National Defense Force has deployed helicopters to assist in evacuating trapped individuals.
