Former prime minister of Cte d'Ivoire Achi elected speaker of National Assembly.
According to the Ivorian News Agency, former Ivorian Prime Minister Patrick Achi was elected as the new President of the National Assembly on the 17th. In the election held that day, the ruling party Union Party candidate Achi received 215 votes, while the opposition Ivorian Democratic Party candidate Yao Yao Lazar received 36 votes. Achi succeeded the previous ruling party representative Amadou Bakayoko as the President of the National Assembly. In the National Assembly elections held on December 27, 2025, the Union Party won 197 out of 255 seats. Achi served as Prime Minister of Ivory Coast from 2021 to 2023.
