The Federal Statistical Office of Germany announced on the 16th that the inflation rate in Germany in 2025 is 2.2%, unchanged from 2024. The data shows that in 2025, energy prices in Germany decreased by 2.4% compared to the previous year, while food prices increased by 2%. Service prices rose faster, with an annual increase of 3.5%, particularly in areas such as public transport, social services, insurance, and hospitalization. Excluding energy and food prices, the core inflation rate in Germany last year was 2.8%. Rdiger Brand, the Director of the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, stated that the data from the past two years show that consumer price trends in Germany are becoming more stable, with inflation levels significantly lower than in previous years. In 2022 and 2023, due to factors such as sharp increases in energy and food prices, the inflation rate in Germany reached 6.9% and 5.9%, respectively. In addition, in December 2025, the inflation rate in Germany was 1.8%, the first time that it had dropped below 2% that year. Energy prices in that month decreased by 1.3% year-on-year, while food prices increased by 0.8% and service prices rose by 3.5%.
