Yunnan Chuxiong publicly announced the investigation report of the collapse accident in Lufeng on "55"

The Emergency Management Bureau of Chuxiong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, announced the "55" major collapse accident investigation report of Key Feng Economic and Trade Co., Ltd. in Ludian, Wuding County, Chuxiong. The accident investigation report suggests that 5 individuals be transferred to judicial authorities for handling, of which 4 have been arrested or prosecuted; and that 21 relevant public officials be transferred to the same-level disciplinary inspection and supervision commission for investigation and handling according to the cadre management authority. The accident investigation report points out that, after investigation, the "55" major collapse accident at Key Feng Economic and Trade Co., Ltd. in Wuding County, Ludian, Chuxiong, was caused by long-term illegal mining and tailings stacking by the company, resulting in super high and steep slopes. The slope instability was caused by the long-term infiltration and softening of free water in the tailings, as well as the negligence and mismanagement of relevant departments, local party committees, and governments, leading to a major production safety accident due to the long-term existence of significant risks. On May 5, 2025, at 8:38 AM, a major collapse accident occurred at the tailings stacking site of Key Feng Economic and Trade Co., Ltd. in Wuding County, Ludian City, Chuxiong Prefecture, resulting in the death of 5 individuals.
