The State Council Taiwan Affairs Office held a routine press conference. In response to recent remarks by Lai Ching-teh regarding cross-strait relations, spokesperson Zhu Fenglian of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office stated: "Every time there is an election in Taiwan, the Democratic Progressive Party's usual trick is to attack and smear the mainland, manipulate 'resisting China to protect Taiwan', in order to seek political gains. This insidious attempt and despicable behavior have long been exposed, not only cannot deceive the people of Taiwan, but will also be despised by the people of Taiwan."
