Recently, reporters saw at the entrance of the BAIC New Energy Automobile Technology Innovation Center, dozens of black Arcfox Alpha S vehicles equipped with L3 conditional autonomous driving special license plates were ready to go, with slogans "BAIC Arcfox L3 Autonomous Driving Leading the Way" on the sides of the vehicles. It is understood that the BAIC Arcfox Alpha S has officially started large-scale on-road trial operation. The first batch of vehicles will soon enter designated areas of the Beijing-Taipei Expressway, Airport North Expressway, and Beijing Daxing Airport Expressway. This marks the acceleration of China's autonomous driving industry entering the stage of large-scale commercial implementation. Reporters on the scene learned that in order to further ensure safe and orderly operations, the trial operation this time adopts the strategy of "B-end first and gradually open up". After the relevant supporting policies further mature, there are plans to gradually open up to individual users starting from the second quarter of 2026. In the future, BAIC New Energy will also introduce more high-end models equipped with L3 autonomous driving technology.
