The Chicago Mercantile Exchange plans to launch 100 ounce silver futures contract.
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group plans to launch a 100-ounce silver futures contract on February 9, 2026, subject to regulatory approval. The contract will be cash-settled based on the daily settlement price of the global benchmark silver futures contract and will be listed for trading based on the rules of the New York Mercantile Exchange. CME stated that the background for launching this new contract is record-breaking retail demand, and strong performance in trading volume for small metal products in 2025 - including micro gold futures, micro silver futures, and the 1-ounce gold futures launched on January 13, 2025. This contract aims to provide retail investors and electronic brokers with a lower threshold for silver trading, while enhancing trading flexibility.
