On January 9, 2026, the Ministry of Finance signed a grant agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for the "China Ecological Low-Carbon Big Food System Project" under the Global Environment Fund, with a grant amount of approximately $18.05 million. The international implementing agency for the project is the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the domestic implementing unit is the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. The project aims to integrate sustainable crop, livestock, and aquaculture systems to reduce environmental impact while ensuring the resilience, nutrition, and safety of the food supply system, and to promote circular and low-carbon agricultural practices in line with the national agricultural green development strategy.
