Recently, the first national ammonia-hydrogen internal combustion engine range-extended hybrid ship built by Fuda Purple Gold Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. successfully completed its trial voyage in the waters near Fu'an City, marking a significant breakthrough in the application of ammonia-hydrogen power technology in the maritime field and providing a new technological pathway for the zero-carbon development of electric ships in China. It is understood that in the face of the global development trend of "ammonia-hydrogen" energy, the National Engineering Research Center for Fertilizer Catalysis, founded by academician Wei Kemei of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, has taken the lead internationally in developing the "ammonia-hydrogen" energy storage and power generation technology route using ammonia as a hydrogen storage medium. In December 2021, Fuzhou University, Zijin Group, and Beijing Haixin Energy Technology Co., Ltd. jointly established the first domestic "ammonia-hydrogen" energy major industry innovation platform, and established Fuda Purple Gold Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. with a combined investment to carry out in-depth cooperation in major technologies related to "ammonia-hydrogen" energy. It is reported that under the guidance of the "dual carbon" strategy, the green transformation of China's coastal shipping industry is becoming increasingly urgent. The successful trial voyage of the ammonia-hydrogen internal combustion engine range-extended hybrid ship this time provides a zero-carbon power solution for mainstream ship types such as coastal law enforcement vessels, fishing vessels, and short-haul transport vessels in China.
