According to a report from Bloomberg News on November 21st, due to the tension in Sino-Japanese relations leading to potential Chinese tourists canceling their trips to Japan, Japan may lose up to $1.2 billion in tourist spending from now until the end of this year. The report stated that data from the Huakei Marketing Company showed that since the Chinese government advised citizens to avoid traveling to Japan, approximately 30% of the 1.44 million Chinese visitors planning to visit Japan by the end of December have cancelled their trips. The market research company specializing in tourism data also stated that about 70% of the cancellations were due to recently departure flights being cancelled or delayed, with no new bookings in sight.
