United Nations Climate Change Conference venue catches fire, no reports of casualties.
On the afternoon of the 20th local time, a fire broke out in the main venue of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in the city of Belem, Para State, Brazil. There have been no reports of casualties so far. The fire occurred around 14:00 in the COP30 venue's "blue zone", which includes exhibition booths for the parties to the convention, as well as areas for delegations and media offices. After the fire broke out, personnel on the scene evacuated according to the instructions of security personnel. Brazilian Minister of Tourism Marcelo Alvaro Antonio stated around 14:30 that the fire had been brought under control.
