Six people at a South Korean steel plant were suspected of fainting due to inhaling harmful gases.

South Korean officials said that a suspected harmful gas inhalation accident occurred at a steel plant in the city of Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea, on the afternoon of the 20th, causing six people to faint. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. According to Yonhap News Agency, the accident occurred at around 1:30 pm, when subcontracted cleaners were cleaning outside the factory premises. According to the police report, two subcontracted cleaners and one Pohang Steel Company employee experienced sudden cardiac arrest after inhaling the suspected harmful gas and were urgently transferred to a nearby hospital. They have not yet regained consciousness. Three internal firefighters at the steel plant also inhaled the gas during the rescue operation but are not in life-threatening condition.
