NVIDIA and Microsoft invest $15 billion in Anthropic to create a new AI alliance.
Three tech giants in the field of artificial intelligence announced on Tuesday that they have reached a partnership involving billions of dollars in investment, joining the investment frenzy aimed at injecting strong momentum into the development of AI models. According to the partnership agreement, NVIDIA and Microsoft will invest up to $15 billion in Anthropic. Anthropic, a competitor of OpenAI, is well-received by programmers and businesses for its models. Anthropic will, in turn, purchase up to $30 billion worth of computing power from Microsoft Azure running on NVIDIA's AI systems. This chip company will collaborate with Anthropic in design and engineering. This alliance is the latest sign of the global AI competition, indicating that even the largest players must cooperate with each other despite potential commercial competition and policy disagreements. Microsoft, a competitor of Anthropic's investor OpenAI, provides its models to customers, while NVIDIA CEO Huang Renxun and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei have clashed on issues such as chip exports and job loss due to AI.
