The hot sales of the iPhone 17 series have driven a 37% increase in Apple's smartphone sales in China in October, demonstrating its strong growth momentum in this key market. Data from market research firm Counterpoint Research shows that iPhones accounted for a quarter of smartphone sales in China in October, reaching this level for the first time since 2022. The data indicates that Apple's annual product upgrades have resonated with consumers and support CEO Cook's expectations for a recovery in revenue in the Chinese market this quarter. Counterpoint's data shows that sales of the new iPhone models, ranging from the iPhone 17 priced at 5999 yuan to the iPhone 17 Pro Max priced at 8999 yuan, have all achieved double-digit growth compared to the previous iPhone 16 series. The strong sales of the iPhone have also helped revive the sluggish Chinese smartphone market, with overall sales increasing by approximately 8%. Counterpoint analyst Ivan Lam states that the new generation of iPhone models accounts for over 80% of Apple's total shipments and notes that with higher average selling prices driving revenue growth, the increase could further expand.
