The Paraguayan Vice-President said establishing diplomatic relations is just a matter of time.
A delegation of Paraguayan lawmakers recently visited China. After returning to their country, several members of the Paraguayan Chamber of Deputies, including the First Vice President Mesa, told reporters that it is only a matter of time before Paraguay leaves the group of 12 so-called "diplomatically recognized countries" and joins the 183 countries that recognize the People's Republic of China. The Paraguayan delegation was invited to visit China by the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs and visited Beijing, Zhejiang, Chongqing, and other places, where they were impressed by China's achievements in various fields. Upon returning to Paraguay after the visit, the parliamentarian Pastor Bela told reporters that he had experienced the development of China's economy and technology during his visit, as well as the friendliness of the Chinese people. In his view, recognizing the One China principle and establishing diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China is a historical inevitability.
