Rare earth yttrium prices have surged nearly 1500% to record highs this year.

According to Asian Metal Inc., the price of yttrium oxide has soared to $126 per kilogram, compared to less than $8 at the end of 2024. Yttrium is used in medical technology, as well as in aerospace equipment, ceramics, lasers, and superconductors.
