The number of China-Europe freight trains operating in 2025 exceeded 5,000, the highest in history.
The latest statistics from China Railway Group show that from January to October 2025, a total of 5063 China-Europe freight trains were operated, an increase of 16.3% compared to the previous year, achieving the milestone of over 5000 trains in the first 10 months of the year for the first time, setting a new record for the same period in previous years. Key indicators such as the number of trains operated, freight volume, and the rate of heavy containers have consistently ranked among the best in the country. Of these, 3917 trains were operated in the direction of Europe and 1146 trains in the direction of Central Asia; the total weight of goods transported reached 5.564 million tons, an increase of 12.9% compared to the previous year; and 505,000 standard containers were shipped, an increase of 10.5% compared to the previous year.
