Pakistani officials said on the 11th local time that a suicide bombing attack occurred in the country's capital Islamabad, resulting in at least 12 deaths and 27 injuries. The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan confirmed that there were no reports of Chinese citizens casualties in the attack. Pakistan's Interior Minister Muhsin Naqvi said at the explosion site that around 12:39 local time, a suicide attacker detonated a bomb near the Islamabad High Court building, causing casualties. Police and rescue personnel immediately rushed to the scene, and the injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Due to the severity of some injuries, the death toll may rise. A Islamabad police official said that preliminary investigations showed that the attacker originally planned to enter the courthouse to carry out the attack but was thwarted by strict security checks, so he detonated the bomb near a police car outside the building. The explosion also caused damage and fires to several vehicles. Police then evacuated the personnel in the courthouse and conducted a search of the area. Eyewitness and lawyer Malik Khalid Khan said the attack occurred during a break in court sessions, and many people were leaving the building, resulting in a higher number of casualties. Pakistani security sources said that the terrorist group "Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan" was responsible for the attack. The sources also accused the group of hiding in Afghanistan and planning the attack. In addition, the Pakistani military spokesperson issued a statement on the 10th stating that the military had foiled an attack by the "Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan" on a military school in South Waziristan in the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. Attackers drove a car loaded with explosives towards the school gate, and Pakistani security forces fought back and killed two armed militants. Currently, efforts are being made to capture the remaining 3 individuals involved.
