Baosteel Corporation: Reduce carbon emissions by 8% by 2025, strive to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2035, and strive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Baosteel Group stated on the investor interaction platform that Baosteel Group follows the "dual carbon" target set by China Baowu, based on the current business status and decarbonization potential of Baosteel Group, combined with the research and development progress of low-carbon metallurgical technology, has formulated medium- and long-term decarbonization targets. Taking 2020 as the base year, the target is to reduce carbon emissions by 8% in 2025, strive for a 30% reduction in 2035, and strive for carbon neutrality by 2050. In 2023 and 2024, the carbon emission intensity of Baosteel Group's four bases was 2.04 tons and 2.00 tons of carbon dioxide per ton of crude steel respectively, compared to 2.13 tons of carbon dioxide per ton of crude steel in 2020, a decrease of 4.23% and 6.1%, respectively, achieving the annual planned decarbonization targets. Baosteel Group will use this phased achievement as a cornerstone to continuously deepen its low-carbon development strategy and strive to achieve the "dual carbon" target set by China Baowu. At the same time, based on the strategic goal of responding to climate change risks, we will decompose the contribution of strategic goals in each stage of decarbonization target to ensure that the decarbonization target is assessable, traceable, and achievable.
