Hunan: Natural gas supply in the whole province is guaranteed this winter. This year, it is expected to consume 5.5 billion cubic meters.

According to the emergency drill for the supply of natural gas for the heating season of 2025-2026, it was learned that the overall balance of supply and demand for natural gas in the province is guaranteed this year. The Development and Reform Commission of Hunan Province introduced that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the province's natural gas infrastructure has been continuously improved, forming a "three vertical and three horizontal" natural gas long-distance pipeline network structure, and constructing a gas source channel of "one main trunk line, three branches, and two inter-provincial lines", breaking the pattern of gas transportation end in our province for many years and realizing the mutual assistance in gas transportation between the north and south. The total natural gas consumption in the province has steadily increased from 38.4 billion cubic meters in 2020 to 53.6 billion cubic meters in 2024, and is expected to reach 55 billion cubic meters this year, with an average annual growth rate of 8.4%, which is 1.7 percentage points higher than the national average. The coverage of pipeline gas has been expanded to 92 counties, the population using gas has exceeded 25 million, the per capita gas consumption has increased from 57.8 cubic meters to 81.1 cubic meters, and the annual growth rate has reached 8.8%.
