According to the latest international balance of payments data released by Japan on Tuesday, Japanese investors bought more U.S. Treasury bonds in September than any other major market; Japanese investors net bought 1.13 trillion yen in U.S. Treasury bonds in September. Japanese investors also purchased sovereign bonds from Italy, the United Kingdom, and France while selling German bonds.
