Private sector data: Consumer prices in the United States rose at the slowest pace in three months in October.
Price data from OpenBrand shows that in October, the inflation rate of durable goods and personal items in the United States slowed for the first time in three months, reflecting a slight increase in discounting by merchants. The price index for bulk commodities and personal care products tracked by the agency rose by 0.22% in October, lower than September's 0.48%. OpenBrand monitors the prices of goods in online markets, retail websites, and physical stores daily. The agency stated that, except for communication devices, the inflation rates of all categories of goods have slowed down. The discount rate has increased slightly from the previous month to 20.4%, approaching the highest level since July of last year, while the frequency of merchant discounts has decreased. Prices of home appliances and personal items have decreased. Another inflation indicator from PriceStats also shows that overall price inflation slowed down last month, but categories with higher import proportions such as household equipment, furniture, and electronic products still show some resilience.
