American judge temporarily blocks US government's move to require states to retract food assistance funds.
According to a court announcement released on the same day, a federal judge in the United States has temporarily blocked the Trump administration's directive to states to "discontinue" full food assistance benefits. On November 9, the Trump administration instructed states not to distribute full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for November. On the 7th, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson issued an emergency order temporarily suspending a lower court's ruling requiring the Trump administration to distribute SNAP benefits in full for November. The U.S. government subsequently revised its guidance in accordance with the Supreme Court's order.
