Wholesale egg prices in October fell more than 26% year-on-year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, there is ample supply of eggs nationwide in October, with prices slightly decreasing compared to the previous month. Merchants explain that the large inventory of eggs held by storage companies is still high, ready to be released at any time, which limits the current egg prices. Therefore, in the first week of November, egg prices continued to decline, with a weekly decrease of about 4%. Over the past two years, the rapid increase in the scale of modernized chicken farms in the main egg production areas has led to a situation where the supply of eggs in the market exceeds demand for a considerable period of time. According to monitoring by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the wholesale price of eggs in October was 7.63 yuan per kilogram, a decrease of 5.22% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 26.56% compared to the same period last year.
