Tornado attacks southern Brazil, already causing 5 deaths and 430 injuries.

On November 8th, local government in Brazil reported that the southern state of Parana was hit by a tornado, resulting in at least 5 deaths and over 430 injuries. 80% of the area in the city of Foz do Iguau was severely damaged. The Civil Defense Department stated that the tornado started on the afternoon of the 7th, and more than 3000 households remained without electricity that night, while water supply services were also affected. The tornado overturned roofs of many houses, knocked down power poles, and destroyed homes. Rescue teams mentioned that the number of casualties may increase further. The Brazilian federal government announced that they will provide assistance to the affected areas, to help the victims and support the reconstruction of the affected communities. Brazilian President Lula wrote on social media that the federal government has sent a team of professionals from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of National Integration to the scene. Lula expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
