Google plans to establish a large artificial intelligence (AI) data center on Christmas Island in Australia. Earlier this year, the company signed a cloud cooperation agreement with the Australian Department of Defense. Christmas Island is located about 350 kilometers south of Indonesia. Details such as the size, cost, and specific uses of the data center are still confidential and have not been publicly disclosed. According to local officials and parliamentary records, Google has been in discussion with the island's government to lease land near the airport to build the data center and plans to collaborate with a local mining company to ensure energy supply.
