At temperatures close to absolute zero, such as 4 Kelvin, most electro-optic materials "malfunction" and their performance drops sharply. In a recent study, Belgian scientists have developed a new type of strontium titanate thin film that not only has low optical losses at extremely low temperatures but also achieves record-breaking electro-optic performance. It is hoped that this technology could provide more efficient light control components for quantum modules. The related paper was published in the latest issue of the journal "Science".
