Shipping group Maersk reported on Thursday that its operating profit for the third quarter exceeded expectations and raised the lower end of its full-year profit forecast. Maersk stated that EBITDA for the third quarter decreased 44% year-on-year to $2.69 billion, exceeding analysts' expectations of $2.58 billion previously collected by the company. It is now expected that full-year EBITDA will be between $9 billion and $9.5 billion, an increase from the previous forecast range of $8 billion to $9.5 billion. CEO Vincent Clerc said, "We delivered strong performance in all our businesses in the third quarter. With market conditions fluctuating, we are well positioned to help customers adapt to changes and maintain the stability of their supply chains."
