The first national transaction for newly added arable land indices for the treatment of collapsed mountains was signed in Nanchang.
On November 5th, the first transaction of newly-added arable land indicators for land collapse governance was successfully signed in Nanchang, Jiangxi. Leaders from the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, the Soil and Water Conservation Department of the Ministry of Water Resources, the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Water Resources, and other relevant departments attended and witnessed the signing ceremony. At the signing ceremony, the People's Government of Shangyou County and the People's Government of Nankang District signed an agreement to complete the transaction of 21.56 mu of newly-added arable land indicators through land collapse governance in Shangyou County, with a transaction amount of 3.4496 million yuan, the funds obtained will mainly be used for local soil and water erosion control. This transaction, guided by the Ministry of Water Resources, was achieved through the joint efforts of the province, city, and county, and the coordinated advancement of the water resources department and the natural resources department. It marks a major breakthrough for Jiangxi Province in the coordinated development of ecological governance and arable land protection, transforming the eroded and degraded land into effective arable land through systematic governance such as slope treatment and soil improvement. It explores a new path of "combating wasteland and increasing arable land, turning land into gold" for the southern regions of China affected by land collapse erosion, and provides a "Jiangxi model" for the integration of arable land occupation compensation and ecological restoration in major agricultural areas.
