General Administration of Customs Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Announcement No. 208 of 2025. On September 17, 2025, Eritrea reported to the World Organization for Animal Health that an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease occurred in the Anseba Province. In order to prevent the spread of the epidemic, protect the safety of our country's animal husbandry and biosecurity, and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, the following is announced: 1. It is prohibited to directly or indirectly import cloven-hoofed animals and their related products from Eritrea. 2. It is prohibited to send or carry cloven-hoofed animals and their related products from Eritrea into the country. If found, they will be returned or destroyed. 3. Any plant or animal waste, swill, etc. from Eritrea unloaded from incoming vehicles must be disposed of under the supervision of customs and cannot be discarded at will. 4. Any illegally imported cloven-hoofed animals and related products from Eritrea intercepted by border inspection and other departments must be destroyed under the supervision of customs.
