The Office of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters arranged the deployment of ice flood prevention work in northern rivers.
As the temperature gradually decreases, the Yellow River, Heilongjiang River, Songhua River, and other rivers are about to enter the ice jam period for the year 2025-2026. On November 4th, the Office of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters issued a notice to the flood control and drought relief headquarters of Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Shandong, Henan, Ningxia, and Shaanxi provinces, as well as the Yellow River and Songhua River flood control and drought relief headquarters, requesting the implementation of detailed response measures to ensure the safety of river ice jam prevention. The notice points out that, according to forecasts, this winter, under the complex climate background intertwining La Nia and global warming, frequent cold air activities, abrupt changes between cold and warm temperatures, and the probability of extreme weather events are increasing. Coupled with the suddenness, difficulty in prediction, and defense of ice jam events, the ice jam prevention situation is complex and severe.
