Tesla's car sales in the UK halved in October.
Research institution New AutoMotive released data on Wednesday showing that Tesla's car sales in the UK in October dropped by half compared to the same period last year, echoing a significant decrease in sales in other European countries for the US electric car manufacturer. The data shows that Tesla only registered 495 new vehicles in the UK in that month, a 51% decrease from the 1013 vehicles registered in the same period last year. Tesla has been working to increase sales in some European countries such as Spain, the Netherlands, and the Nordic countries. However, the company's older models are failing to attract buyers as traditional manufacturers and competitors flood the market with newer and cheaper models. According to the data from New AutoMotive, the total number of new car registrations in the UK dropped by 17.7% in October, falling to 121,896 vehicles. The UK's largest car manufacturer, Jaguar Land Rover, faced an unprecedented cyber attack and had to close its UK factories for nearly six weeks. The company stated that it would partially resume production operations in early October.
