The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat: China's updated nationally determined contributions are an important moment for global climate action.
Simon Stille, the executive secretary of the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, said on the 3rd that China's update of its nationally determined contributions is an important moment in global climate action. Stille said in an email to the media on that day: "The new round of nationally determined contributions will lead China to develop a clean, reliable, and affordable energy system of unprecedented scale, and accelerate energy transition through reducing the cost of clean technologies, stimulating innovation potential." This year, China announced its nationally determined contributions target for 2035. Stille said that although there has been positive progress in global climate action, there are still huge challenges. The new target submitted by China fully reflects its firm commitment to emission reduction and its determination to "do better."
