In terms of news, Coeur d'Alene Mines will acquire Canadian miner New Gold (NGD.US) in an all-stock deal with an estimated value of about $7 billion. After the merger, the total market value of the new company will reach approximately $20 billion, making it a new giant in the North American precious metals sector. New Gold's stock price rose by nearly 3% to $7.58 per share. After the merger, the two companies will form a mining group operating across the US and Canada, with an expected annual gold production of around 900,000 ounces and silver production of approximately 20 million ounces by 2026, ranking among the top in North America.
