On November 3rd, local time, Samia Suluhu Hassan, who won the Tanzanian presidential election, was sworn in as president in the capital Dodoma. Hassan was born in January 1960, first elected as Vice President in 2015, and re-elected in October 2020. In March 2021, she took over as president following the death of Magufuli, serving until 2025. Tanzania held elections on October 29th for the president of the United Republic of Tanzania, members of the National Assembly, and local councilors. The Tanzanian National Electoral Commission announced the results of the presidential election on November 1st, with the candidate from the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi party, Samia Suluhu Hassan, receiving 97.66% of the votes, becoming the first female elected president in the country's history.
