Supreme People's Procuratorate: Prosecution of crimes against minors by procuratorial organs reached 53,000 in the first nine months of this year.
Reporters learned from the Supreme People's Procuratorate that the procuratorial organs continue to strengthen the protection of minors' rights and crime prevention. From January to September this year, procuratorial organs nationwide prosecuted 53,000 people for crimes against minors, and accepted and reviewed 69,000 cases of crimes committed by minors, a decrease of 2.1% and 9.7% respectively compared to the same period last year. They are promoting the improvement of a hierarchical intervention and correction mechanism for juvenile crimes, legally strengthening the supervision of specialized education and correctional education. They strengthen the comprehensive performance of procuratorial organs in protecting minors, using their performance to promote the coordinated efforts of families, schools, society, the internet, government, and the judiciary in the "six major protections." Focusing on the urgent needs and concerns of the people, they consolidate and deepen the effectiveness of the special action of "protecting the people." From January to September this year, procuratorial organs nationwide severely punished crimes endangering food and drug safety, prosecuting 9,102 people; carried out the "Prosecutorial Public Interest Litigation Supervision Activity for Food and Drug Safety Benefit", handling 22,000 public interest litigation cases. They regularly participate in governance to address issues of unpaid wages, prosecuting 907 people for the crime of refusing to pay labor remuneration. They conduct supervisory activities on administrative non-litigation enforcement in the field of social security, handling 2,982 related cases. They increase judicial assistance efforts, providing 3.4 billion yuan in judicial assistance funds to 26,000 people in difficulty due to cases, and improve the mechanism for connecting judicial assistance with social assistance. For farmers, disabled persons, elderly persons, women suffering from domestic violence, and others whose rights and interests are harmed but due to economic difficulties or lack of legal knowledge, are unable to file lawsuits, support has been provided to file 32,000 civil suits.
