On November 1st local time, the police in Elgeyo-Marakwet County, western Kenya, stated that a landslide occurred in the county in the early morning after heavy rain, resulting in at least 13 deaths, several people missing, and 19 people rescued. The Kenyan Red Cross has initiated rescue efforts. The Kenyan Minister of Interior stated that helicopters have been deployed to assist in the rescue operation.
